Emmys Preperation for the GBK Production Gift Lounge - Act Two
so here we are just a week away from The GBK Productions Gift Lounge event at Primetime Emmys!
this actually was a two day event but they decided to add a mixer on thursday, so that means another day for people check out The Artisan Group
everything seems to be in order,
press releases have been sent, contacts have been made, products done and shipped and blog updated.
now it's just wait and see!
hopefully some of the celebrities or press will love my pieces as much as i do.
maybe they will take a picture wearing on of my pieces, share my info with friends and family, or better yet come and visit my little Etsy shop!
since i personally won't be going to the big event i will share with you what the finish product looks like
along with the earthy packaging and display.
i have to say i love, love, love, did i say love, package design along with making the display.
i can hardly wait for the next big event as i am already planning my display piece!!!

Getting Ready for the GBK Productions Gift Lounge at the Emmys- act one
i started out by making over 100 heart clasps and 100 medallions out of earthenware clay, which turned out too chunky, so i had to remake about 60 of them. who would want a over chunky necklace, not i! so each one is hand made by stamps that i have created myself and i made each necklace different. i didn't want everyone to have the same kind, plus i think i would of been to bored to make 100 pieces all the same design! oh, in case i didn't tell you these necklaces will be going into the celebrity swag bags
once the pieces are stamped and dried then it's into the kiln for the first firing, it takes about 18 hours. it's more efficient to have a kiln full of pieces so i tend to make more pieces to fill the kiln if i need to. but in this case i didn't need to since i was loading heart wall plaques for the press swag bags as well.
when the pieces are cooled it's on for a multiple rounds of underglazing and glazing. for the these it takes 3-4 different colors of underglaze and one quick coat of glaze. the day i did this was a beautiful hot day out side. so i decided to take every thing outside and enjoy the sun.
so my necklaces themselves are made out of waxed cording. each one is hand tied with copper finding and wraps, eventually these with tarnish a bit with age. oh, and how can if forget about adding the signature heart clasp on each and everyone! i usually match the heart color up the medallion that is selected for each necklace. once the necklace is made then the medallion is attached and then the piece is finished!!!

Bead Soup Blog Party!!!
this is my first bead soup blog party. i really am not a jewelry maker, i make earthy jewelry with my ceramics but I have never taken a jewelry class.
so you ask what is a Bead Soup Blog Party?
well you are hand matched with another person to swap out beads, which Lori Anderson at lorianderson-beadsoupblogparty.blogspot.com did, there is approximately 363 entrants! Can you believe each one was hand matched?
in this particular one we where instructed to send a clasp and a focal bead. you can send more accent beads if you wish but not required to. once you get your beads you have about a month to create! step out of your comfort zone and do something different. well for me that won't be too hard as like i said, i am not a jewelry artist.
then it's all about blogging about your experience and creations!
this is my soup that i received from my partner Rebecca Sirevaag. so many beautiful pieces here it's hopefully going to go easy for me! she sent so many pieces my head is spinning. |
here is my hand stamped focal pendent Rebecca sent. i love leaves so this is just perfect for me! |
and finally here is my clasp that I have to use. hummm how can I make it different? stay in touch and keep checking back to see what we have created with our soup of beads, it should be a lot of fun to watch what is created. |

Not just a table but a piece of ART
i have been hunting and hunting for years to find the right table. you know the perfect something you have drawn up in your head but just can't to find it because it just something you 'created'. well, the "The Brothers of Industry" had the same picture in their head that I did. they travel throughout the west coast finding old, wonderful, reclaimable pieces that are more on the rusty, mechanical, and unique side, then make them into wonderful pieces of functional art.
i had the wonderful time meeting their family when i was at "farm chicks" this past summer. this is where i fell in love with my table. it was truly a true love story.
i was headed down one of those long isle with a zillion and one things to look at. there, at the end of the isle, she lay in a booth full of raw, reclaimed beauty! but she alone, was the one i desired. i could not keep my eyes off her. i moved closer, all the while, causally chatting. until finally i stood near enough that i could protect 'my table' while i phoned my hubby to see if i should buy her.
and then she was mine...ours.
the brother of industry are all so down to earth, it was like i had know them my whole life. they were simply wonderful to deal with. check out their blog. it's a wonderful place to visit.
